NAVARRO LLOMBART

BIOGRAFÍA

Mar Navarro Llombart (1990) has a degree in Audiovisual Communication from the Jaume I University of Castellón (2013). Her inclusion as a filmmaker in the world of documentary cinema is very recent and has been generated for the most part independently and self-taught. Her beginnings are made up of small pieces of video art and short documentaries that have moved in small online, local, and regional circuits. Her first work as a filmmaker is “A fotógrafa do vulcão” (The photographer of the volcano), which is in the post-production phase and which has been financed by the government of the Azores, Portugal. This documentary, a piece of biographical research, tells the story of Hilda Rebelo, the only woman photographer who immortalized between 1957 and 1958 the eruption of the Capelinhos volcano on the island of Faial, but which figure and the work fell forget progressively in 1961 when Hilda emigrated to the United States. Mar is writing and researching her second feature-length documentary, also a biographical and researching piece, which tells the story of Otília Frayão, a young Azorean poet who in 1951 fled clandestinely her island as a stowaway aboard a sailboat. Seventy years later, starting from this story mythologized by the passage of time, Lia, niece of Otilia, seeks to find out more about her aunt, a woman she doesn’t know so much about but she always has heard stories and wants to know more.
