BIOGRAPHY ENGLISH
Carlos (1979) came to cinema at the age of 33. Until then he had studied environmental engineering and worked in civil construction for 7 years.
His debut film was the feature documentary Land of Milk and Honey (co-directed): a collective portrait of human displacement caused
by war. The film was pre-selected for the Goya awards, and won the award for best Spanish documentary at Valladolid International Film
Week. It was screened at festivals such as Gijón International film festival, Play Doc, Miradas Doc, and in the New Directors section of the Thessaloniki Film Festival, where it won the Greek Film Center Award.
He is currently finishing his next film project together with Anna Berkhof: LEVEL. This project has been granted by the Groningen Art Fund (Kunstraad Groningen) and the Grants for the Production of Feature Films of the Government of Cantabria, ICAA experimental, and has won the DCP-04 (Film and Production Dialogues) organised by the Filmoteca de Cantabria and the Cantabria Film Commission. This earned the project an invitation to the Abycine Lanza 2021 Festival. Level has also been selected to participate in the Walden Artistic Residencies, which took place in spring 2021.
He is a founding member and participant of art space El Temporal (Santander, Spain), where he finds space to experiment. He created two audiovisual installations called Confines and El Agua (co directed). He has also directed and edited the audiovisual piece commemorating the 50th anniversary of Broken Circle/Spiral Hill, the only earthwork of Robert Smithson in Europe.

Carlos (1979) llegó al cine a la edad de 33 años. Hasta entonces había estudiado ingeniería ambiental y trabajado en construcción civil
durante 7 años. Su película debut fue el documental Land of Milk
and Honey (co-dirigido): un retrato colectivo del desplazamiento humano causado por la guerra. La película fue preseleccionada para los premios Goya y ganó el premio al mejor documental español en la Semana Internacional de Cine de Valladolid. Se proyectó en festivales como el Festival Internacional de Cine de Gijón, Play
Doc, Miradas Doc, y en la sección de Nuevos Directores del Festival de Cine de Tesalónica, donde ganó el Premio del Centro de Cine
Griego.
Actualmente está terminando su próximo proyecto cinematográfico junto con Anna Berkhof: LEVEL. Este proyecto ha sido subvencionado por los Fondos de Arte de Groningen (Kunstraad Groningen) y las Ayudas a la Producción de Largometrajes del Gobierno de Cantabria, ICAA experimental y ha sido ganador en el Taller de Impulso Cinematográfico DCP-04 (Diálogos de cine y producción) organizado por la Filmoteca de Cantabria y la Cantabria Film Commission. Esto le valió al proyecto una invitación al Festival Abycine Lanza 2021. Level también ha sido seleccionada para participar en las Residencias Artísticas Walden, que tuvieron lugar en la primavera de 2021.
Es miembro fundador y participante del espacio artístico El Temporal (Santander), donde encuentra espacio para experimentar. Creó dos instalaciones audiovisuales llamadas Confines y
El agua (co-dirigido). También ha dirigido y editado la pieza audiovisual conmemorativa del 50 aniversario de Broken Circle/Spiral Hill, la única obra de landart de Robert Smithson en
Europa.
