Today, stopping, doing nothing, makes us feel uneasy. Exposed to the elements, we seek answers in the constant babbling, the small screen, and rarely in silence. It is one of the paradoxes of our time: constant movement, our flight has become our refuge.
Once again we look at how reality and film mediates between the other and ourselves. Five days to watch (ourselves) and listen (to ourselves); to feel and react; to enjoy meetings and reencounters.
Editing and writing will enjoy the spotlight for this fifth edition, as will projects undergoing development, which can benefit from a safe space where they can be shared and grow.
The programme takes us to all corners of Europe: from north to south, east to west, and includes our neighbours, Africa and Latin America. Documentaries that highlight the value in the small stuff, the things that go unnoticed, raising questions over identity, contemporary art, violence, ephemerality or loneliness. They help us to change, transformed by people or territories; they take us to war, to people’s homes or the unknown, although always in the company of their creators.

GUEST OF HONOR
This year the MajorDocs guest of honour is Avi Mograbi (Tel Aviv, 1956).
Mograbi, a student of philosophy and art, is not only the most distinguished nonfiction filmmaker in Israel, but also probably in the whole of the Middle East.
His distinctive work has its own language, which brings together experimentation, identity, politics and memory. His films have been screened in festivals all around the world, including Rotterdam, Cannes, Berlinale and Venice.
