Daniela de Felice portrays herself using watercolours and personal archives. Ardenza is an open-hearted immersion in the director’s youth in Italy in the 1990s, a sensorial film in which the discovery of the body and politics go through by the same desire. Daniela de Felice builds, with her voice and her watercolours, a journey into memory where the filmed image is tactfully confused with the drawing. Ardenza is a film that, in its attempt to capture the ephemeral, cruel and intense nature of youth, surprises us with emotions and sensations that still burn.

Daniela de Felice
Daniela de Felice was born in Milano in 1976. She grew up in Italy where she studied drawing and art history. In 2013, she directed “Casa”, selected by Visions du Réel, and won the “Golden Dove for animated Documentary” at Dok Leipzig and a merit at Cinéma du Réel. The movie is screened at many international festivals. In 2020, she directed “Mille fois recommencer”, where young students got involved in creation and marble sculpting in Carrara. The movie got the Louis Lumière scholarship given by the French Institute, and has been awarded by several SCAM prizes. In 2022, Daniela returned to Visions du réel with “Ardenza”, screened for its world premiere.
