SYNOPSIS
Gil, 50, always wanted to be a singer. She moved to São Paulo with her wife when she was 20 in order to fulfill that dream. She’s been working as a cleaner lady ever since. Maria Clara proposes to her to make a film. Gil becomes famous, they blow up two cities, and reflect on dreams, work and oblivion.
Spanish premiere. With the presence of the director.
Why must you see it?
A deeply radical cinematic gesture in which the filmmaker and the protagonist—in true punk fashion—fantasize about a possible existence beyond class.
A portrait of a fractured Brazil, where Gil can dream and find herself beyond the destiny of domestic work. Blending performance, music, and other forms of expression, they point toward a different city—an oasis.
