CLAIMING THE IMPOSSIBLE Poetics of hope in the face of capitalist realism

The cultural industry imagines the end of the world, but rarely a different world. Drawing on documentary cinema and its ability to transcend uncertainty and disorientation, Natalia Castro Picón —poet, researcher and winner of the 2025 Anagrama Essay Prize— proposes an exploration of what it means to be realistic today and how, from the precarity of the present, we can open up poetics of hope capable of claiming what seems impossible.
