Cine ciego is a multidisciplinary project which analyses the need for a visual break, or blindness, in the face of image overexposure. From Malevich’s Black Square to Instagram’s BlackOut Tuesday, it examines how monochrome, emptiness, or pause are required to change the way we perceive images, how a certain degree of blindness participates in any aesthetic experience, and how the absence of an image awakens the beholder’s consciousness.
